New Porsche Taycan GTS and GTS Sport Turismo join executive EV range

Porsche adds new GTS variant to the all-electric Taycan line-up, with the driver-focused model offering up to 313 miles of range

A new driver-focused Porsche Taycan GTS has been unveiled at the Los Angeles Motor Show in the brand’s new Sport Turismo body style. This sleek estate sits alongside the standard Taycan saloon and the more rugged, raised-up Taycan Cross Turismo.

According to Porsche, the all-wheel drive Taycan GTS is the “sporty all-rounder of the range” and produces a total of 590bhp and 850Nm of torque on overboost when using the car’s launch control function. This allows for a claimed 0-62mph time of 3.7 seconds in both saloon and Sport Turismo body styles. Top speed stands at 155mph.

The GTS has received updates to its drive strategy to boost efficiency in line with the improvements applied to other Taycan variants for the new model year. It means the GTS is capable of 313 miles of range from its 93.4kWh Performance Battery Plus. Standard 270kW DC rapid charging means 62 miles of range can be added in just five minutes.

The new model also features a bespoke set-up for its adaptive air suspension system, which includes Porsche Adaptive Suspension Management. The brand claims the new settings have been developed to “benefit lateral dynamics”. Specify the GTS with optional rear-axle steering and this system will receive a sportier set-up compared with the normal settings, too.

Taycan GTS models feature darker trim outside and inside, with areas of the cabin trimmed in sporty Race-Tex upholstery. Porsche has also modified its Electric Sport Sound for the GTS.

With the new Sport Turismo option the Taycan range now stands at three body styles. Porsche says that “the new derivative is aimed at those who want a similar level of everyday practicality as offered by the Taycan Cross Turismo, but who do not want to miss out on the on-road performance of the Taycan sports saloon.”

The Sport Turismo drops the off-road design elements of the Cross Turismo and offers up to 1,200 litres of luggage space.

Prices for the new Taycan GTS start from £104,190 for the saloon and £104,990 for the Taycan GTS Sport Turismo with deliveries set to start in spring 2022.
