The facelifted Renault Scenic range will include a four-wheel-drive MPV
The Renault Scenic is due for a makeover, and the new facelifted version of the popular MPV will include a four-wheel-drive version. These photos suggest that the Scenic range will be expanded with a new crossover model, which will be designed as a successor to the Renault Scenic RX.
To mark out the more rugged crossover from the rest of the facelifted Scenic range, there’s dark cladding running along the bottom of the doors and roof rails, which aren’t standard on the current model. The front and rear bumpers are also heavily disguised, as the Scenic will debut a new look next year.
The Twingo and the new Clio have debuted the brand’s new design language and the Scenic will follow suit. This means the front styling will be led by a larger Renault diamond-badge, and an enlarged front grille flanked by sharper-looking headlamps. The side will remain much the same, as will the rear with its L-shaped taillamps that climb the C-pillar.
A four-wheel-drive version of the Scenic shouldn’t be too much trouble for Renault, as the Scenic is based on the same platform as the all-wheel-drive Nissan Juke. This will also underpin the forthcoming Renault Captur SUV.
The facelifted Renault Scenic will go on sale in April 2013, priced from around £18,000.
