SEAT Leon Cupra 280 Ultimate Performance Pack unveiled
SEAT's fastest ever production car which set Nurburgring hot hatch record launched, starting at £31,410
SEAT's Leon Cupra 280 is one of our favourite current hot hatches, and now it's gone hardcore with the launch of the Ultimate 'Sub 8' Performance Pack, starting from £4,200. It's the same spec that set the fastest hot hatch lap around the Nurburgring before it was beaten by Renault's Megane 275 Trophy R.
The more extreme pack, which pushes the starting price of the Cupra 280 up to £31,410, adds performance extras such as a 370mm brake upgrade with four-piston Brembo callipers and weight reduction measures. Semi-slick Michelin Sport Cup 2 tyres (the ones that were used to set the 7.58 minute 'Ring time) are a £460 extra.
Lightweight multi-spoke 19-inch alloys in orange or black combined with body-coloured side skirts complete the minor exterior revisions. Inside it remains broadly similar with the exception of the loss of some comfort features like a centre armrest, climate control and four of the speakers. Compared to the Megane which has no radio, no back seats and a roll cage, the revisions are minor. It also undercuts the trophy R by £5020.
We drove a Cupra specced with the Performance Pack last year, and it impressed with its on-track performance. The Sub 8 Performance Pack is now available to order on all Cupra 280 models.
