Smart EQ ForTwo and EQ ForFour prices confirmed
Facelifted versions of the all-electric Smart EQ ForTwo priced from £16,850 including the government plug-in grant
Smart has confirmed prices for its updated, all-electric EQ ForTwo and ForFour models. When sales begin in January, the smallest ForTwo coupe will start from £16,850, once the £3,500 plug-in car grant has been applied.
That price gets you the entry-level Advanced trim, one of four available. Standard equipment includes 15-inch alloy wheels, cruise control, climate control, a seven-inch touchscreen with satellite navigation, parking sensors and a 22kW charging system. The four-door variant, the ForFour, is also available in all four trim levels, and costs £435 more than the EQ FourTwo.

The open top cabrio model is offered from Premium trim upwards, and is priced from £20,420, while a ForTwo coupe in the same grade costs £18,000. Beyond the Advanced, the EQ Premium models add 16-inch wheels, a panoramic glass roof (or a draught stop for the Cabrio), reversing camera and a storage net for the centre console.
The Exclusive models come with full-LED lights front and rear, rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlamps, an automatically dimming rear-view mirror, ambient interior lighting and improved fog lamps with a cornering function. Exclusive models start from £19,105 - £1,105 more than the equivalent Premium models.
From launch, the Smart EQ ForTwo Coupe and Cabrio models will also be offered in Edition One trim. This adds a range of Brabus styling parts, including unique 16-inch alloys, front splitter, side sills, a rear diffuser, gear shift knob, and gloss black and red trim pieces. Including the plug-in car grant, these Coupe and Cabrio versions are priced from £20,645 and £23,065 respectively.
The pricing confirmation follows on from the reveal of the revised Smart range, which made its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. The brand’s parent company Mercedes says that all three models have received a “reduced and grown-up” cosmetic overhaul. Revisions are fairly minor, stretching to a larger honeycomb radiator grille sitting lower in the front bumper, fresh fog lamps, more aggressive front air ducts and a pair of reworked headlights.
All ForTwo and ForFour models receive a smoother, more aerodynamically efficient bonnet, while at the back there’s a new diffuser, updated light units and a tweaked spoiler. Buyers will also be able to choose from a broader range of customisation options, with the new Smart EQ range receiving fresh paint colours, new upholstery patterns, additional interior trim colours and a choice of four alloy wheel designs.
Inside, all three Smart EQ models benefit from a redesigned centre console with new cupholders and a smartphone storage compartment.
A range of new connected services will also be introduced on the facelifted Smart EQ range, most of which are operated from the owner’s smartphone. Features include a car-sharing function, parking-space search, a theft-recovery system and the ability to route-plan to where the vehicle is parked.
The new Smart EQ control app also allows owners to check the status of their vehicles remotely, providing information on the car’s range, location and battery-charge level, as well as offering the option of setting the car’s climate control and remotely operating its central locking.
Smart’s all-electric drivetrain remains unchanged. All models get a 17.6kWh battery pack and a rear-mounted electric motor, with an output of 80bhp and 160Nm of torque. All three models have a top speed of 81mph and a claimed 0–62mph time of around 12 seconds.

All Smart EQ models now offer support for 22kW fast charging, enabling a charge from 10 to 80 per cent capacity in less than 40 minutes. The EQ ForTwo has a claimed range of 91 miles, while the EQ ForTwo Cabriolet and EQ ForFour offer respective ranges of 90 miles and 87 miles.
