Subaru Viziv Performance STI concept unveiled at Tokyo Auto Salon
A new Subaru Viziv Performance STI appeared at the Tokyo Auto Salon later this month
Following hot on the heels of the Viziv Performance concept from last year's Tokyo Motor Show, the Subaru has unveiled a pumped up STI version at the Tokyo Auto Salon.
Subaru has said the new concept "embodies the brand’s vision for the future of making cars that deliver enjoyment and peace of mind to its customers." No technical details have been announced at this stage, but the concept is likely to give us a glimpse of what the new WRX STI could look like.

The front teaser shot shows a more aggressive and race-ready Viziv concept, with beefier bumpers and arch-filling alloy wheels. At the back you find a more dramatic quad-exhaust setup and a giant rear wing.
Auto Express previously learned that the next WRX STI will make use of a hybrid powertrain and could arrive by 2020. The WRX STI will also use a CVT automatic gearbox; Subaru's commitment to EyeSight safety technology means all cars that use it are forced to have a CVT. As such, no manual version will be offered.
The production model will be based on the same platform as the latest Impreza hatchback, which has been designed from the outset to adopt hybrid technology. “It has been designed to take hybrid and electric,” UK marketing director Chris Hawken told us. “That is the way STi is going.”
