On the inside there's brown leather seats, accompanied by brown leather upholstery on the doors and around the cabin. Tech includes a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system, sat-nav and Hill Descent Control.
Subaru's X-Mode system also features on the Special Edition, which manages the car’s power, torque, brakes and drivetrain to maintain traction on slippery surfaces. The car's off-roading capabilities are further improved by 220mm of ground clearance and short overhangs to negotiate steep approach and departure angles.
The Special Edition will have the XC model’s 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine, producing 145bhp for a 0-60mph time of 10.2 seconds. The car manages 49.6mpg and emits 148g/km of CO2.
The Forester Special Edition goes on sale from the 1st of September, with just 100 units going on sale. The price for the petrol Lineartronic begins at £29,995, with the diesel costing from £31,495. It is based on the XC Premium model and Subaru says it features an additional £1,500 worth of equipment for no extra cost. Both models come with Subaru’s five year, 100,000-mile warranty.
