New Subaru Outback 2015 - pictures
The Subaru Outback is essentially a jacked-up version of the Legacy family car, which is no longer sold in the UK.
The Outback features Subaru's much-loved symmetrical all-wheel-drive system which will embarrass some far more expensive 4x4's offroad.

The new Subaru Outback has a choice of a 2.5-litre petrol or 2.0-litre diesel engines. Both are four cylinder 'Boxer' units.
The interior is a vast improvement on the old Outback.

The gaping grille gives the Outback plenty of off-road presence.
SE models come with automatic LED headlamps, cruise control and 17-inch alloys while SE Premium adds niceties like keyless entry and a sunroof.

The touchscreen system is great to use but its shiny surface picks up too many fingerprints.
There are still a few cheap plastics on show but it's miles better than previous models.

The Outback's boot is a generous 512-litres.
There's space for five adults while the large glass area makes the car bright and airy.

Neither engine is particularly fast - the diesel will probably be the engine of choice for UK buyers.
There's the option of a CVT automatic gearbox - these are normally awful but Subaru has engineered 'steps' in the ratios to make this one the best of its type.
