Safest small SUV: Vauxhall Mokka

The Vauxhall Mokka recently beat the Ford Kuga to the top spot in Euro NCAP's Small SUV category, marking it out as the safest crossover you can buy in the UK.

The Vauxhall Mokka recently beat the Ford Kuga to the top spot in Euro NCAP's Small SUV category, marking it out as the safest crossover you can buy in the UK.

It scored highly for adult and child protection, and scored 100% in the Safety Assist category - meaning it's less likely to get into a scrape in the first place. It's not such great news for pedestrians, however, with a low score in that category.

Six airbags, stability control and adaptive brake lights are standard, while the cruise control system features a speed limiter function. For £750 you can add the Forward Camera Pack, comprising lane departure warning, a forward collision warning system and traffic sign recognition.

The Vauxhall Mokka is a rival to the Nissan Juke, Skoda Yeti and Dacia Duster SUVs, and the raised ride height, big plastic bumpers and high bonnet give it a 4x4 look - even though it's actually quite a small car.
