How you can make the Volkswagen T-Roc as personal as you are
The new Volkswagen T-Roc isn’t a car for people who want to blend in. It is fresh, bold and slick. It is for drivers who are confident in themselves but want to impress with good taste.
But it’s not just Volkswagen’s stylists who are part of the creation process. While the basic design of the new T-Roc brings a lot of style as standard, it offers a whole series of options to personalise your car and make sure it suits you – and your personality – perfectly.
Let’s start with the design-obsessed details that are part of every T-Roc.
Despite its high-quality look and solid stance, clever design means the T-Roc is actually compact enough to slot easily into urban traffic and parking spaces. The new T-Roc measures 4,234mm long, which is actually shorter than Volkswagen’s iconic Golf.
This clever styling trick has been made possible by pushing the wheels into each corner and bringing the roofline lower, ensuring the T-Roc looks remarkably similar to the stunning concept show car that hinted at its arrival in 2014.
That low roofline is accentuated by the coupe-like rake of the C-pillar, purposeful diffuser at the rear and sporty coupe silhouette, all of which makes other SUVs look instantly boxy and dated. But the new T-Roc still appears rugged, with a bold front design, wide grille, side skirts and grained wheel arch aprons giving it an unmistakably chunky look.
Even in the dark the T-Roc has unmistakable style. Clever use of LED lamps front and rear give the T-Roc a unique ‘signature’. The daytime running lights double as indicators, making every turn and lane change a chance to impress.
On these solid style foundations owners can then begin to build their perfect T-Roc using carefully chosen colour and trim options.
In fact, it’s the most personalisable Volkswagen ever. Bright colours can be combined with more restrained detailing, more subtle hues can be highlighted with bright and contrasting touches to add sophistication. The interior too can be tailored to be as individual as a suit, with unique and sophisticated looks that reflect the owner’s personality and lifestyle.
There are 11 paint shades to choose from and, on the Design model, four roof colours. If you love contrasts, why not match a Pure White body colour with a jet black roof? Or steer away from the monochrome with Turmeric Yellow.
Besides the colours, owners can also choose a series of trim levels to greater reflect their needs and lifestyle. Available to order in S, SE, Design, SEL and R-Line trims (from spring 2018), each comes with generous standard equipment and a unique style.
Every model in the range has standard features including two-zone electronic climate control to save arguments about temperature between the driver and passenger. A sophisticated infotainment system with eight-inch colour touch-screen is also included, adding Bluetooth connections for both phone and music. A DAB radio keeps you in touch with an amazing and diverse selection of broadcast content.
While all the trim levels have their own unique look and style, it’s the Design model which will be the perfect choice for anyone wanting to take personalisation to the next level. As the name suggests, it’s been created to offer the greatest selection of colour options. There’s a choice of contrasting roof, A-pillar and door mirror housing colours. Rear tinted glass gives a slick look, as well as adding privacy for rear seat passengers. At either end of the T-Roc, the Design features special sports bumpers with silver-metallic underbody protection, adding to the rugged look of the standard car.
Even the Design’s 17-inch alloy wheels can be enhanced with a choice of three different colours to match or contrast the body paint. Go traditional with a silver finish or choose bold with three different colour options: Gloss Black, Atlantic Blue or Black with Hot Orange facings.
The interior is just as bold. Design models are offered with a choice of coloured dash panels and interior door trims, all highlighted with neat ambient illumination
Choose Dark Oak Brown, Energetic Orange, Ravenna Blue or Turmeric Yellow depending on your choice of exterior paint. The colour will be carried over onto the door trims and centre console as well as on a central stripe detail on the seats.
The racy sports pack, available on the SEL trim, features front sport seats, stainless steel pedals, red brake disc callipers and black roof lining to give a more dynamic look.
The T-Roc’s colours aren’t the only thing you can make loud to create an impact and reflect your personality. A sound system created by specialists at Beats Electronics – creators of the famous beats by Dr. Dre headphones – is an option.
With so much choice, you might have trouble deciding. So we asked the man who knows the T-Roc best for his opinion. Marco Pavone, head of exterior design at Volkswagen, is behind the T-Roc’s styling. Which colour combination is his favourite? He told us: “They all look great and there are different combinations that work better depending on who is driving and where the car is being driven. There is something for everyone. For me, I really love the combination of black roof and orange paintwork. I think it’s a really amazing look.”
