Front panel on this JVC blacked out until a finger came near it, at which point it lit up to reveal its controls – although we found them a bit fiddly. iPod connection is direct, but for video, you need a £20 adaptor. Plenty of sound options, including Dolby PLII, and screen has a three-line display. Yet selecting categories was clumsy and slow.
