Video games for mobile and tablet
We try four of the best video games for your mobile or tablet
Real Racing 2 HD
Price: £4.99
Rating: ★★★★★
Available on: iPhone, iPad, Android
Best buy: One of the most fun games we’ve played. Real Racing 2 HD has a choice of real cars, lifelike damage and excellent graphics. It’s so simple to play: the car automatically accelerates, and you tilt the tablet to steer. Your £5 buys hours of fun, while there’s a cheaper, non-HD version for iPhones and Android mobiles.
Reckless Getaway
Price: £1.99
Rating: ★★★★
Available on: iPhone, iPad, Android
Recommended: As in Need for Speed, you play a fugitive trying to outrun the police. The tracks aren’t especially challenging and there’s no multiplayer mode, but you’ll want to play again to get three stars on each level. Collecting coins and weapons along the way is great fun, as is blasting rivals out of your path.
Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit
Price: £3.99
Rating: ★★★
Available on: iPhone, iPad, Android
More real-life cars, but this time in a game of cops and robbers. That does give you more challenges, but it can get a bit repetitive. The computerised rivals are also too easy to beat, so you won’t keep returning to this. Still, cheaper than Real Racing 2 and comes with multiplayer modes.
DrawRace 2
Price: £1.99
Rating: ★★★
Available on: iPhone, iPad
This is more about drawing than racing. In DrawRace 2, you drag your finger around the track to plot your racing line, then let the game do the rest. There is a wide choice of tracks, but no licensed cars, while the racing is all over too soon. There’s no multiplayer mode, either, and DrawRace 2 isn’t available on Android.
