Geneva Motor Show 2013

The Geneva Motor Show kicks off on Tuesday, and will see big new car debuts from VW, BMW, Audi, Honda, Toyota, Ferrari, Lambo and more

Geneva Motor Show preview 2013

The Geneva Motor Show will officially open on 5 March with the first press day, and we'll be there to bring you all of the biggest news live from the show floor. But what can we expect from one of the year’s most important motor shows?

One of the major stories is that we’ll finally get to see the full production version of the McLaren P1 in all its glory. Not just that, but Ferrari will attempt to steal the British car maker’s thunder by revealing its long-anticipated Enzo replacement: the Ferrari F150, while Lamborghini will attempt to rain on both maker's parades with an as-yet unrevealed hypercar.

At the more affordable end of the new car market, we'll also see the new Skoda Octavia Estate, six facelifted Volvo models and the all-new Volkswagen Golf GTI,  which is set to be the fastest Golf GTI ever.

Concept cars at the show will include the Toyota FT-86, which is a convertible version of the much-celebrated Toyota GT 86. Plus, we'll see the European debut for the Honda NSX, as well as a hybrid pick-up truck and electric city car form Mitsubishi.

Alfa Romeo

After what feels like years of teasing, the production version of the mid-engined Alfa Romeo 4C sports car will finally make its world premiere. This will be joined by a special-edition MiTo model and a Veloce version of the Giulietta.

Aston Martin

The brand is currently celebrating its 100th year, so there could be a few surprises in store. What we do know is that the Rapide will be replaced by the Rapide S, which will be revealed at the show. The Rapide S gets an extra 80bhp added to the 6.0-litre V12 to push things to a total of 550bhp.

Audi

Audi is mixing performance with efficiency this year. There’s the RS Q3 - the first of the Q models to get the RS treatment - and the S3 Sportback, which will go from 0-62mph in five seconds flat. Also on the stand will be the electric e-tron A3 and a gas-powered A3 g-tron.

Bentley

Big news for Bentley is the debut of the new Flying Spur. There are a number of design changes and mechanical upgrades, while the engine has been boosted from 552bhhp to 616bhp and there's a new eight-speed automatic gearbox. There are specification updates to the Mulsanne, too, including duck down-filled cushions.

BMW

It’s likely to be another busy year for BMW. The main event will be the  practical new 3 Series GT. But also on show will be the facelifted Z4, the Concept Active Tourer – BMW’s first front-wheel-drive model - an i3 range extender and the M6 Gran Coupe.

Chevrolet

The Chevrolet show stand will display a revised version of the Captiva SUV. We’re also expecting to see a convertible version of the new Corvette first seen at the Detroit Motor Show in January, while an electric Spark will also be on display.

Citroen

The French manufacturer is keeping things quite sensible this year. There will be the latest Citroen C3 with some subtle design changes, and the C3 with Hybrid Air Technology emitting just 69g/km and average fuel consumption of 97mpg. Then there’s the Technospace concept, which previews a facelifted C4 Picasso.

Dacia

Budget brand Dacia has already taken the new car market by storm with its accomplished but affordable Dacia Sandero, Sandero Stepway and Dacia Duster models. The line-up will grow at Geneva with the arrival of the new Dacia Logan MCV, which is an estate version of the Sandero.

Ferrari

Ferrari’s eagerly anticipated Enzo replacement, the F150, will get its full premiere at the show. Geneva is set to be a hypercar standoff, though, as McLaren will reveal the full production of its P1, too.

Fiat

Fiat’s model expansion is set to continue at Geneva with the arrival of the 500L Trekking. Like the Fiat Panda Trekking, it takes the standard car and adds some plastic cladding for a bit of faux off-roader looks.

Ford

The new EcoSport will make its first appearance in Europe, and is likely to be the main event at the Ford stand. Based on the fiesta platform, the compact SUV will sit beneath the Kuga in the range. There’s also the new Ford Fiesta ST and the new Tourneo Courier MPV.

Honda

Making its full European debut at the show will be the Honda NSX concept. The supercar will be the star of the Honda stand and we’ll hopefully be getting more details and a chance to check out the interior in detail. There’s also the Honda Civic Wagon Concept, previewing the Civic estate.

Hyundai

After a number of years of bombarding the new car market with products with trouble the established class leasers, Hyundai has a relatively quiet Geneva show planned. The show will mark the debut of a lightly facelifted ix35.

Infiniti

Set to replace the G37 and the first car in Infiniti’s range to take on the new naming structure, the Q50 will make its European debut at Geneva. The manufacturer is hoping it will appeal more to European buyers’ tastes.

Jeep

Geneva marks the debut of the thoroughly facelifted Grand Cherokee we first saw at the Detroit Motor Show earlier this year. A facelifted version of the smaller Compass will also make its European debut at the show.

Kia

Things take on a sporty feel for Kia at the show. There’s the five-door Cee’d GT and the Volkswagen Golf GTI-rivalling Pro_cee’d GT, too. The show will also play host to the debut of the nicely proportioned Kia Provo concept, which previews a new B-segment vehicle.

Lamborghini

It’s all been rather quiet on the Lamborghini front. With the manufacturer celebrating 50 years, however, we could be in for one of the biggest supercar surprises of the show.

Land Rover

Showing the Defender isn’t just a big fuel-guzzling off-roader, Land Rover will preview electric versions of the farmers' favourite. There will also be the rather impressive-sounding nine-speed automatic gearbox on show in the Evoque, too.

Lexus

We may have already seen the new IS model, but Lexus will unveil a hybrid version of the car, the IS 300h, at Geneva. There will also be the Opal Blue LF-LC model, which is a 2+2 hybrid sports coupe concept.

Maserati

The Italian maker has gone for a little practicality, as it plans to show off a four-seater version of the hardcore MC Stradale. Power is up by 11bhp, to 453bhp, while it still gets the same aggressive body kit of the two-seat car.

McLaren

It’s set to be the busiest stand of the whole show as the full production version of the McLaren P1 is unveiled. It will be going head-to-head with the Ferrari F150 for star of the show.

Mercedes

2013 is set to be an incredibly busy year for Mercedes, with the arrival of the CLA at Detroit, and the GLA SUV and new S-Class to look forward to later in the year. Geneva plays host to the debut of the 355bhp A45 AMG - the high performance version of the new A-Class.

Mitsubishi

Focussing heavily on concept cars, Mitsubishi will reveal the GR-HEV and CA-MiEV. The GR-HEV is a hybrid pick-up truck, while the CA-MiEV is aimed at surburban commuters.

Nissan

Nissan will be flying the flag for the British car industry in Geneva, with the new Note model and electric Leaf - both set to be built in Sunderland - taking centre stage. It will also show the performance 370Z Nismo and Juke Nismo models.

Peugeot

It’s a bit of a 208-fest at the Peugeot stand. The full production version of the Skoda Yeti-rivalling 2008 crossover model and the 208 Hybrid Air concept car will be making their debuts.

Porsche

The all-new 911 range is set to expand at Geneva. Not only does the new 911 Cup racing car make its debut, but Porsche will also show off the new PDK-only 911 GT3

Qoros

Beginning its assault on the European market, Chinese cra maker Qoros will bring three models to Geneva. There’s the 3 saloon, aimed at the likes of the Skoda Octavia, along with an estate concept and crossover hybrid car.

Renault

Renault will be unveiling the Captur, a Clio based crossover targeted at the Ford EcoSport and Peugeot 2008. There will also be the facelifted Grand Scenic and the crossover-come-MPV, Scenic XMOD.

Rolls-Royce

Following numerous titbits and flashes of interior and exterior design, Rolls-Royce will finally give us full viewing of the new Wraith coupe.

SEAT

It’s looking like it could be a quiet year for the Spanish manufacturer. The main event is the Leon SC, the sporty three-door version of its Golf rival.

Skoda

The Skoda Octavia Estate will be making its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show. There will be few surprises, though, as we’ve already seen the car and most details have already been announced.

Subaru

A new crossover concept will be the major news for Subaru. Called the VIZIV, it’s built to represent the manufacturer’s commitment to innovation across its range of all-wheel-drive cars. The updated Forester will also be making its European debut.

Suzuki

We’ve seen it in concept form and Suzuki has given us some teaser images, but we’ll finally get the chance to see the S-Cross concept. It's the manufacturer’s Nissan Qashqai-rival in full production spec.

Toyota

It’s set to be a busy time for Toyota. There’s the FT-86 concept, a convertible version of the Toyota GT 86. Then there’s the new RAV4, along with the Auris Touring Sports estate and the i-Road, which is a compact, fun and emissions-free urban vehicle for two people.

Vauxhall

Vauxhall seems focused on drop-tops this year. The manufacturer will show the Adam Rocks, a crossover with a retractable fabric roof, and the Audi A5 Cabriolet-rivalling Cascada. The Adam R2 rally car will also be on show, as will a new diesel-engined Zafira Tourer.

Volkswagen

Things are going to be hectic at the Volkswagen stand. There’s the Golf GTIGTD and BlueMotion models. We’re also expecting a Golf Estate to be unveiled, along with the XL1, Cross Up! and electric E-Golf.

Volvo

There will be six cars on the Volvo stand, which all get design tweaks and refreshes of varying degrees. The XC60, S60, V60, XC70, S80 and V60 have all been given a once over.
