Kia EV family to grow with new EV3 and a Tesla Model 3 rivalling EV4 saloon

The upcoming Kia EV Day will see the launch of a sleek saloon and a family crossover

Kia EV day teaser

Kia’s rapidly expanding group of all-electric EV-badged cars will soon gain a few more members with the Korean firm hinting at several new reveals at its EV Day on 12 October.

The shadowy teaser image shows a five-strong line up with the EV6 GT to the far left, EV9 SUV on the far right and the new EV5 in the middle. Two new concept EVs will be revealed alongside these cars - a saloon pictured on the left of the EV5 and a crossover which should be named EV3 Concept.

Kia has previously shown concept versions of the EV5 and EV9 shortly before their respective releases, with not much changing in terms of design in the transition from concept to production versions. The EV3 Concept pictured will detail a near production-ready exterior design for the new small SUV, which could hit the public road in 2024.

The teaser image suggests it’ll come with a similar LED headlight structure to the EV5 - albeit without the light bar along the bonnet’s leading edge. Kia also says further details and specifications on the new EV5 SUV will be revealed at the show.

As for the saloon we’ve yet to see Kia testing this bodystyle, although we know the firm wants to compete in every major segment so a Tesla Model 3 rival shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise - especially considering the fact sister firm Hyundai now has the Ioniq 6 within its ranks. As for the name, we expect it to be called EV4 Concept.
