New 2023 MINI Clubman Final Edition could be last of its kind

The MINI Clubman gets a limited-edition trim level with nods to its past

MINI has revealed the new, ominously named Final Edition of the Clubman, which adds a host of bespoke details inside and out. 1,969 units will be made globally (a reference to the original’s launch year) and only 100 of these will come to the UK. 

The MINI Clubman is one of the more oddball cars you can buy. It manages to tow the line between hatchback and estate, although MINI itself calls it a shooting-brake. The Clubman’s future is in doubt however, as the current model has been on sale since 2015 and there doesn’t appear to be a plan to replace it. 

MINI has been vocal in recent months about a swathe of upcoming models. The all-new Aceman SUV will be unveiled next year alongside the next-generation Countryman and a larger Volkswagen Golf-sized MINI is also on the cards - which is expected to replace the Clubman. 

The Clubman looks like it will bow out with this Final Edition then. For a price tag of £37,000, which is £4,710 more expensive than the Cooper S Exclusive on which it is based, you get a choice of three exterior colours in Nanuq White, Enigmatic Black and Melting Silver. This is combined with copper detailing on the radiator grille, decals on the bonnet, as well as on the side and rear split doors. The 18-inch wheels are also finished in copper. "Final Edition" lettering is displayed on the back and “1 of 1969” on the C-pillar serves as a reminder to the Clubman Final Edition’s rarity.

On the inside there’s more edition-specific badging on the Nappa leather sports seats, scuff plate and floor mats, plus a darker dashboard trim with Sage Green strips. As standard there’s heated seats, an 8.8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and MINI’s in-house sat-nav, a reversing camera, electric folding mirrors, panoramic sunroof and a Harmon Kardon sound system. 

Only the 176bhp turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine will available to UK buyers. A diesel and a 134bhp 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol will be offered elsewhere.
