New 2022 Mobilize Limo unveiled with focus on car-sharing
Renault’s new Mobilize sub-brand has revealed the first of its four car-sharing models - the Limo
Renault car-sharing sub-brand Mobilize has revealed the Limo - a car intended for taxi firms, private hire drivers and fleet managers - ahead of its official world premiere at the 2021 Munich Motor Show.
The new Limo is the first of the four vehicles planned by the Mobilze brand - cars called Bento, Duo, Hippo are also planned - and it’s a coupe-SUV with a fully electric powertrain.
The Limo only comes with a 60kWh battery, while its electric motor system generates 148bhp and 220Nm, giving the Limo a 0-62mph time of 9.6 seconds and a top speed of 87mph.
What will be more important to the taxi drivers and businesses Mobilize is targeting is the range and charging capacity. To this end, Mobilize claims it has a maximum range of 280 miles and can recharge 150 miles in 40 minutes. Drivers can choose between three driving modes - Normal, Eco and Sport. Regenerative braking can also be set to different levels.
The MobIlize Limo is a similar size to the Tesla Model 3, measuring 24mm shorter in length, 19mm narrower in width while being 34mm taller. Inside, there’s a 10.25-inch screen for the instrument panel, while a 12.3-inch touchscreen features in the centre of the dashboard.
There’s also a fridge between the two front seats. Volume controls, USB ports and a flat floor in the rear hint at the Limo’s intended use as a ride-hailing car. Due to its sloped coupe-style roof, the boot space stands at 411 litres, some way off the 543 litres the Volkswagen ID.4 and 527 litres the Ioniq 5 offer.
There are three colours available, Metallic Black, Metallic Grey and Glossy White. The Limo comes with 17-inch alloy wheels as standard along with LED headlights, scrolling indicators and flush door handles that pop out when unlocked.
Mobilize has developed an app specifically for the Limo which provides all the car’s information and can be used to remotely access the car’s location and certain features, such as locking/unlocking the doors, setting the climate and scheduling charging times.
There’s no typical ‘on-the-road’ price for the Mobilize Limo, as the car will be available exclusively through a flex-rate subscription-based offer for professional drivers beginning from the second half of 2022.
