Arctic Trucks adds extreme off-road extras to toughest ever Isuzu D-Max

The Isuzu D-Max Arctic Trucks AT35 is built to take on Icelandic wastes - or the Yorkshire Dales

A company specialising in 4x4s designed to conquer the snowy wastes of the arctic has teamed up with Isuzu to create the toughest-ever version of the D-Max pick-up truck.

Arctic Trucks has been engineering 4x4 ‘super trucks’ for over 25 years, but this is the first time you’ll be able to buy one of their vehicles direct from a mainstream manufacturer’s UK dealer network. The result of the collaboration has just been revealed in Birmingham at the Commercial Vehicle Show.

Available in single or double-cab configurations, the D-Max Arctic Trucks AT35 will instantly stand out on British roads thanks to its suspension lift and huge 35-inch specialist off-road tyres on 17 x 10-inch wheels. Riding 125mm higher than the standard D-Max, and with flared wheelarches over that enormous rubber, Isuzu says the modification give its pick-up truck the extra off-road performance to take on the harsh terrain of a frozen Icelandic lava flow - or even a green lane on the Yorkshire moors - in its stride.

The D-Max Artic Trucks AT35 uses the standard Isuzu 2.5-litre twin-turbo diesel engine making 161bhp and 400Nm, and retains the standard one-tonne payload and 3.5-tonne towing capacity of its stablemates.

The vehicle will be on sale from late spring this year, costing from £30,995. A range of extras to further enhance the rugged looks – and capability – include an Arctic Trucks roll bar and load bay protector, plus skid plates, an LED work light and an ARB tyre inflator.
