Cool cabrios

Sometimes we can be masters of deception – and this cabriolet test shows how. The main image looked like it had been taken by a beautiful piece of Mediterranean coastline, or by a secluded lagoon. In reality, the cars were lined up in a Welsh quarry, yards from the rusting remains of burned-out wrecks!

However, we didn’t have to venture to the south of France to find out that the Audi and BMW stood head and shoulders above the new contender from Japan, as the 3-Series retained its crown at the head of the drop-top table.
