Citroen C3
The new C3 is Citroen’s answer to the mighty Ford Fiesta and, as Auto Express discovered on the road (Issue 1,092), it makes a strong bid for the supermini crown.
The 1.6-litre HDi model we tried out was smooth and punchy, while also returning 62.7mpg. Its ride was comfortable, but did limit the C3’s cornering ability
a little. A modern, stylish look both inside and out lends the newcomer a more premium feel, especially on top-spec Exclusive models. All variants get a classy panoramic roof, too.
Citroen DS3
Set apart by its cutting-edge design and technology, the original DS has become one of the most revered cars of all-time. Now, 55 years after the model was first released, Citroen has re-introduced the label for its latest premium supermini.
And the new DS3 certainly seems worthy of its historic badge. A range of striking features, including a unique B-pillar design, give it an aggressive
and commanding stance.
Buyers will be able to add more personal touches, too, with a line-up of colour schemes for the roof, door mirrors and wheel centres. Inside, the dash is available in six different finishes, and there are five gearlever trims to choose from.
Under the bonnet, there’s a choice of two diesel and three petrol engines. The former are both 1.6-litre HDi units, with either 90bhp or 110bhp. Petrol-wise, there’s a 95bhp 1.4-litre motor and two 1.6 units in 120bhp and 150bhp form. The DS3 will be on show in Citroen dealers from March. Prices start at £12,500 – about the same price as a MINI One – and rise to £19,000.
