Peugeot RCZ THP 200 vs. rivals
Some cars merit a bit of extra legwork, and in 2010, that model was Peugeot’s RCZ. It justified its billing as one of the year’s most exciting launches.
It’s not every day a mainstream manufacturer takes on a sports car legend. So when Peugeot began making noises about its latest model being more than a match for an Audi TT, we sat up and listened!
In fact, we were so keen to put the claims to the test before anyone else that, in Issue 1,107, we took a couple of special guests along to the all-new RCZ’s launch in southern Spain – a TT and a Volkswagen Scirocco. Having completed nearly hundreds of miles and a ferry crossing just to get there, we were more than familiar with the German models, and were convinced the Peugeot would finish in third place... but then we got behind the wheel.
It was immediately clear that this was one of the best-handling Peugeots ever made. With its sharp steering, crisp body control and strong performance, the French model was every bit as good to drive as it was to look at, and was a clear winner.
