These options are added after final assembly, and as the name suggests, the work is normally done by the supplying dealer. 

They’re usually simple mechanical additions (parking sensors, stereo upgrades and towbars are most common), although some enterprising dealers will be keen to supply everything from bodykits to leather upholstery themselves.

The trick with jobs like this is to shop around, as a key factor in the price of the extras will be the labour rate at the garage in question. It may cost less to get the work done somewhere else once you’ve taken delivery…
