Toyota Prius - Reliability & safety
The Toyota Prius plug-in hybrid hasn’t been tested by EuroNCAP yet, although it has a solid array of standard safety systems
The Toyota Prius plug-in hybrid is too new to have featured in our most recent Driver Power owner satisfaction survey. It’s also not been tested by Euro NCAP yet.
The safety features on the Prius are the same whether you choose the Design or Excel trim levels. Standout safety technology includes new additions such as ‘Proactive Driving Assist’, which supports drivers by either gently braking into corners, or doing a combination of braking and steering to maintain a safe distance between a vehicle ahead, pedestrian or cyclist – all done by using a combination of the car’s camera and radar systems.
Adaptive cruise control has been adjusted for the latest car with a new following distance setting, and the lane departure alert function can now recognise roadside objects to help define lanes better.

Warranty
There’s a standard three-year/60,000-mile manufacturer warranty for the Prius, but like every new Toyota, there’s the availability to increase this to 10 years or 100,000 miles of warranty cover as long as the car is backed up by Toyota-approved servicing for the intervening seven-year period.
Servicing
A three-year (36-month) service plan can be set up for any vehicle under 12 months old through a Toyota dealer. It includes three services, one MOT, and two additional years of roadside recovery over the standard 12 months of complimentary roadside assistance. Pricing is from £28 per month.
