Vauxhall Grandland - Reliability and safety

We’ll have to wait to see how the Vauxhall Grandland performs in its Euro NCAP crash test. Given how many cars within the Stellantis group will eventually sit on the same architecture, the results will be eagerly anticipated

As standard, the Vauxhall Grandland gets a suite of passive and active safety features. Adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist and traffic sign recognition are included on the entry-level Design models. But if you want Vauxhall’s Drive Assist 2.0 system, you’ll have to go for the range-topping Ultimate, which adds rear cross traffic alert, lane change assist and a 360-degree rear parking camera.

The Vauxhall Grandland hasn’t been tested by Euro NCAP yet and neither has the latest Peugeot 3008 nor the 5008, meaning we’re yet to see how well Stellantis’ new STLA Medium architecture fares. We’d be surprised to see anything other than a five-star rating giving the history of Vauxhall and Peugeot, plus all the standard-fit safety equipment will help here, too.

Both the STLA Medium platform and Grandland are too new to garner any real-world reliability issues from owners. But build quality seemed pretty good to us in both the Vauxhall and its Peugeot E-3008 cousin. The Grandland is produced at Vauxhall/Opel’s plant in Eisenach, Germany. The plant was home to the old model, but received a 130 million Euro investment to accommodate the new car and its BEV technology.

Warranty

The Grandland comes with Vauxhall’s industry-standard three-year/60,000-mile warranty. That’s the same warranty period as the Peugeot 3008, although the French firm offers unlimited mileage for the first two years. With the Vauxhall, that’s only the case for the first year.

For the plug-in hybrid and fully electric Grandlands, there’s Vauxhall’s ‘Plug & Go’ transferable warranty which covers the battery for eight years/100,000 miles. Vauxhall also says it’ll guarantee at least 70 per cent charging capacity during the warranty. Three years of roadside assistance are included as standard.

Servicing

Vauxhall will sell servicing plans on the Grandland EV for £12.64 a month,  and £19.57 a month for the petrol and plug-in hybrid versions. Every part Vauxhall uses comes with a two-year warranty.
