Kicking off our class-by-class countdown is the supermini sector – and Honda’s latest Jazz takes the top spot on its Driver Power debut. It’s hard for a small car to fulfil the needs of every driver, so average scores among superminis are lower than in other sectors.

Yet the Honda delivers a better blend of all-round talents than its rivals. In second is the hugely capable Skoda Fabia MkII. Impressively, though, the original Jazz, launched in 2002, is still good enough to come third. In fourth is Mercedes’ A-Class, ahead of the Fiesta. Ford will be hoping the latter has grown on more buyers in time for our 2011 report.
