Top of the compact executive sector in its debut year – Mercedes’ C-Class has a lot to celebrate. The car is clearly meeting all the needs and requirements of its buyers. Running the Mercedes a close second is the Honda Accord.

While it would have only made it into fifth place in the family car class, the Japanese model claims silver when judged in this sector. The achievements of the C-Class and Accord are all the more impressive when you realise they have pushed the Lexus IS – a regular class champ in previous surveys – into third. But Lexus will take pleasure in leaving both BMW and Audi trailing.
