Garmin nüvi 2240

Price: £129.99 Traffic? TMC

Entry-level nüvi 2240 has the best bits from higher-priced Garmins – such as our preferred ball-and-socket mount and the same well laid-out menus – in a smaller package. Pricier than the TomTom Start 2, but quicker in our tests – working out our trip to Glasgow in nine seconds, and to France in 10 seconds. Plus, it rerouted in three seconds – faster than Garmin’s top-spec nüvi 1695! Its touchscreen is responsive, and the display is logical, showing just what you need. However, the non-widescreen unit didn’t have as many features as rival devices, and at twice the price of the RAC 2000, it looked rather expensive.
