TomTom Start 2 Europe
Price: £119.99 Traffic? TMC
A QWERTY keyboard works well on a PC, but when you have to switch displays to enter the letters and numbers of a postcode, it becomes tiresome on the Start 2’s square screen. The mount is built into the colourful case, yet this TomTom appears costly compared to the sub-£100 devices it was up against. IQ Routes technology calculates directions based on the time of day, and it mapped our trip from London to Glasgow in only eight seconds. But after our wrong turn, the Start 2 took 14 seconds to reroute – you could get lost in this time! Useful features include Lane Assist and a verbal camera warning, plus European mapping (a UK-only version costs £100), but this wasn’t enough
to put it close to our budget pick, the Navigon 20 Easy.
