August DG400

Price: £174.99 Traffic? None

In this company, the August struggled. It’s a digital TV with GPS, and could be easier to use. Plus, it doesn’t offer any traffic monitoring; other units get live updates for the same price. There are five big buttons, and a 4.3-inch touchscreen to access menus, but it misses some key features. The mount is awkward, and it takes ages to load the GPS app. It rerouted in 10 seconds – twice as long as our winner – and plotted our Glasgow trip in 20 seconds. On top of all that, its touchscreen isn’t as responsive as rivals’, and the big bezel makes swiping across the display difficult.
